Dr. Doug Peterson, a native of Lebanon, KY, earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Kentucky and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with high honors from Auburn University. He has practiced in Houston, TX and Jefferson City, TN before purchasing Animal Hospital in Bowling Green in 1990. He sold his practice in Bowling Green and moved to Richmond where he practiced at the 24-hour emergency clinic, as well as managed four practices before coming to Frankfort Animal Clinic.
Dr. Peterson likes all aspects of veterinary medicine and has a special interest in surgery. In addition to practice in the U.S., he has also practiced in Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua on mission trips. He currently serves as the Vice President of the board of directors for the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Peterson is married to Julie Carr Peterson and has two children, Phillip and Kristen, as well as one dog and two horses. In his spare time, he flies hot air balloons commercially and enjoys woodworking and golf.
